Why would I ever need Probate Court?
· If a family member or friend dies, his estate would be administered through the Probate Court.
· If you have a parent who cannot make decisions for herself or handle her finances,
you may need to seek a guardianship in Probate Court.
· If a child is orphaned, the Probate Court will appoint a guardian to make decisions for the child.
· If the government attempts to condemn your private property for public use, it becomes an
issue
called eminent domain which is determined by the Probate Court.
· If a family member or friend is psychologically challenged and may need to be committed to
a hospital for treatment, the Probate Court will make that determination through its
Mental Health Docket.
